Presented as a journey from Mount Athos to the Upper Nile, this is very much more than an amusing travel book.  It is a history of the many different Christian sects in the Middle East and an analysis of their situations now.  Although entertaining, this is an alarming and important book, the author's best. - review by Johnny de Falbe
