Napier's early childhood was mostly spent in Egypt, where her father advised the Egyptian Government during the Protectorate.  This is the witty and evocative echo of a lost age, with Kitchener in the Residency and the British Empire still secure.  It is also an acute study of a child growing up.  This book has been a great favourite with our customers since its first publication in 1966. - review by
