I’ve never been into birds, especially after a run-in with a black swan in the back of a Jeep coming down the M1.  However, after pouring over this book by “ Life” photographer Stephen Green-Armytage, I stand revealed as an out and out chicken fancier.

Following his volumes on canine curiosities and feline fantasies, the author makes brilliant use of his eye and lens to produce a breathtaking series of photographs of our farmyard friends.

Who could resist the temptations of a little Rough Polish Frazzle, deny himself the pleasures of Buff Cochin or fail to feel his pulse race at the sight of a Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben?  Not I.
