Review
This highly entertaining novel purports to be a memoir by Hurree Chunder Mookerjee, the spy from Kipling’s Kim. Hurree has received instructions to follow a foreigner from his arrival in India – who turns out to be Holmes, whom the public thought to have died in his struggle with Moriarty. But Holmes did not die – and is using the screen of his supposed death to solve the most desperate, world-threatening mystery of his career. After various twists he goes to Tibet, in the company of Hurree, where some even more improbable events occur…
A cross between ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and Kim, this book should not be taken too seriously. It is good fun for anyone, and while some Conan Doyle fans might look down their noses, most would enjoy it. - review by Johnny de Falbe
