Garden Craftsmanship In Yew And BoxEditions
Review
This is a practical little volume, based on the author’s experience at Great Dixter, where his son Christopher still gardens, with the original black and white photographs, which show rather better than the later ones in colour, a wide range of gardens and examples of the eccentric shapes that so fascinate us. (I do so love the fact that in old age, clipped Yew tends to obesity and the resulting contours can be hilarious.) The advice given is still sound, and as the principles apply to all forms of hedging this should be a welcome addition to the potting-shed shelf. - review by Stewart Grimshaw |
