This is an illustrated guide to Ruskin’s classic The Stones Of Venice pbk £12.99.  Sarah Quill has taken extracts of his descriptions of individual buildings and linked them with her own excellent photographs.  The result is an extremely informative and attractive book on Venice, which shows how much the city has changed since Ruskin’s day – and how much it has stayed the same.  This is one of the very best illustrated books on the city. - review by John de Falbe
