This book was much enjoyed by all when it first appeared in 1980: now, it seems to have been almost forgotten.  It is the true story of the explorers, Samuel and Florence Baker, who discovered Lake Albert, went to the source of the Nile, and so became Victorian heroes.  But the fact that Samuel had bought Florence at a Bulgarian slave-market and lived in sin with her for alomst a decade did not endear her to Queen Victoria... - review by John Wyse Jackson (Seán)
