Christopher Lloyd's Gardening YearEditionsReview
It is hardly surprising that there is little new information in his latest volume (indeed, he plunders his own 'The Year At Great Dixter' from 1993) and in the tradition of those grandes dames Sackville West and Fish, he gives us a month by month review of his own garden in Sussex. Whilst this is in no way a book of the importance of his seminal The Well-Tempered Garden , it does contain much useful information and common sense advice. He is at his best when at his most personal, triumphing at a tiny treasure or philosophising over his mistakes or defending his own quirky taste. - review by Stewart Grimshaw |
