John Wyse Jackson (Seán)ProfileBorn, raised and educated in Ireland, I came to London in 1982 to begin working here with John Sandoe and Felicité Gwynne. Though my real name is John, I was told at once that another John in the shop would confuse everyone, and so I translated it into Irish and have been known as Seán ever since (though I use John Wyse Jackson for my desultory extra-curricular writings). A greedy reader, I normally find myself reading several books at the same time. My particular interests are biography (particularly literary biography), poetry, fiction and humour, and little pleases me more than a good whodunnit - what in America is called a ‘mystery’. As my young family grows up, I am being put through an extremely enjoyable course of children’s books. It is probably also my fault that the bookshop stocks a surprising range of books on James Joyce and on other subjects relating to Ireland and the Irish. PublicationsRecent Reviews
