Paul EnglesStaff ProfileI came back to London in two thousand and three, (Returning from York with an English degree) And a sense of myself as a poet to be. I wrote with abandon and sometimes quite well (But sadly the kind of verse no one will sell) And worked in a branch of the bookshop from hell, My employers (the swines) gave me very short shrift And sacked me for using an out of bounds lift, Which allowed me some time to poetically drift. Soon unemployment was starting to bite, And my girlfriend grew restless cos money was tight, But thanks to John Sandoe’s it turned out all right. Its great to be thought of as part of a team That’s held by the public in such high esteem, And whose level of knowledge is frankly obscene. But now I must leave you and get back to work, Must trundle downstairs and attentively lurk, For when one’s job is so pleasant, its bad form to shirk. [No comment - Ed.] Publications
